Precinct Committee Officers

NOTE: NEW PCO ELECTIONS were held in the Party Primary election- September 2006, (filing for office was July 24-28, 2006.) Many names listed here are no longer current PCO's, we try to keep up, but cannot assure the accuracy of these lists. For accurate, up-to-date rosters, contact the County Auditor's offices - the Elections Registrars.

PCOs ("Precinct Committee Officers") are the neighborhood-level elected representatives of the voters for the party. and there may be a PCO elected from each precinct (for each fully-qualified party like Democrats.) PCOs file as candidates for election in July of even-numbered years (along with all candidates) to represent their precinct of residence. If two or more people file for the same PCO position (party and precinct), it is a contested race, and their names will appear on the ballot for the public to vote. An old state law requires a minimum number of votes to certify a PCO election.

The voters now elect PCOs in the Primary Election (September) of even-numbered years.

Those Democratic PCOs who are elected are the qualified "voters" at the following County and LD Democrats' meeting in December and January -- they then elect the County and LD Democratic Party Officers.

If your precinct has no PCO listed or is requesting a Captain, we are looking for someone to fill this spot. Why not volunteer? Contact the party Chair (Whatcom or PCO Coordinator Natalie McClendon.)
